The
Heat won their first NBA title with the Big 3 last season and while
they have the best odds to win it again the new-look Lakers will be in
the mix as well as the young Thunder, who lost in the finals last
season. Let’s take a look at some of the teams that have good odds to
win the title this season.

The
Heat (3.25) won it all last season and it is no shock they will still
be led by the Big 3 of James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh they may be a
better team then they were last season. Yeah, the Heat do not have legit
big man or point guard, but they picked up a couple of solid free
agents in Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis. Both of these guys can knock down
the long ball, which will space the floor for LeBron and company and
each took less money to come to South Beach. Udonis Haslem does the
dirty work and is key play this season. He missed a lot of time this
season and the Heat need to stay healthy, as they are not a deep squad.

The
Lakers (4.33) had a busy off-season gearing up for another title run by
trading for Dwight Howard and Steve Nash. Howard is the newest member
of a long list of L.A. great big men and Nash gives Kobe Bryant a solid
PG, which they have not had in many years. Pau Gasol stayed with the
team and they made a solid off-season move picking up Antwawn Jamison.
He had Jodie Meeks will be solid bench players and they need to play
well since the Lakers do not have a lot of depth. The Lakers are not a
young team and they need to impress Howard this season, who is in the
last year of his current contract.

The
Thunder (5.50) won the West last season and have a great young trio in
Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden. Serge Ibaka is a
great defender and Kendrick Perkins is the muscle in the middle. Perry
Jones III fell to them with the 28th
pick in the draft and he may be a steal. The Thunder will not look much
different than last season, but they will now be facing a tougher
Lakers’ team in the West.

After the Heat, Lakers, and Thunder oddsmakers have all the other teams as long shots to win the title.

The
Bulls (17.00) have a solid core of players with Derrick Rose, Luol
Deng, and Joakim Noah. The big question for the Bulls is when will Rose
come back. He tore his ACL in the playoffs last season and he needs to
be on the floor and playing at a high level for the Bulls to have any
chance to come out of the East.

Do
the Spurs (21.00) have one more title run in them? Tim Duncan, Manu
Ginobili, and Tony Parker are no spring chickens any longer, but they
did have a great year last season. Stephen Jackson was solid mid-season
pick up last year and Kawhi Leonard had a solid rookie campaign, but the
Spurs will only go as far as their big 3 takes them.

The
Clippers (29.00) made the playoffs last season and Chris Paul and Blake
Griffin will be joined by solid pickup Lamar Odom, who may get back to
being a great 6th
man after last season’s disaster in Dallas. They also picked up Grant
Hill and Jamal Crawford, but they are not a good team on D and that will
hurt facing the Lakers and the Thunder, who they will likely have to
get by to make the finals.

Like
the Spurs do the Celtics (29.00) have another title run in them? They
lost one of their Big 3 with Ray Allen bolting for Miami, but Paul
Pierce and Kevin Garnett will have a lot of new talent with the likes of
Jason Terry and rookies Fab Melo and Jared Sullinger. Jeff Green will
also be back after missing last season with a heart condition.

The Mavs’s (34.00) window may have closed and while Dirk Nowitzki is still a star the team lost super 6th
man Jason Terry. The Mavs will have a new look with the additions of
O.J. Mayo, Chris Kaman, Darren Collison and Elton Brand. Jason Kidd
bolted for New York and the new guys will have to step up and Dirk will
have to have a MVP campaign for Dallas to go all the way.

NBA Playoff Overview – There is Still Much to be Decided in these NBA Playoffs

The online sportsbook experts can all agree that these NBA playoffs are extremely
exciting to watch. The Los Angeles Clippers were left for dead by the rest of the league,
but Blake Griffin brought the Clippers back to life in game one against the Memphis
Grizzlies. The Bulls suffered what looks like a major setback to its playoff chances, while
the Knicks get good news on the injury front. There is no doubt that, as the weekend
approaches in the NBA playoffs, the betting sites will have plenty to keep an eye on as
each series continues to progress.

All Games are Scheduled for Saturday May 5

Indiana Pacers @ Orlando Magic
The Orlando Magic seem to be adjusting well to the loss of superstar Dwight Howard as
the Magic took the first game in this series against a young Pacers team. While the Magic
may have a good enough bench to beat the Pacers, the price per head sports experts are
not going to give the Magic much of a chance of getting any further than the first round
of the playoffs. But this series is far from over. The Pacers can be aggressive when it
needs to be and pressuring this Magic team as it tries to find its way without Dwight
Howard is how to beat Orlando.
Pick: Indiana Pacers

Memphis Grizzlies @ Los Angeles Clippers
The Clippers lack the rebounding and defensive play to be an NBA champion, but those
are two aspects of its game that the team is working on. The Clippers looked hesitant and
almost intimidated by its first taste of the playoffs in a very long time. Blake Griffin had
never played in a playoff game before, and he looked overwhelmed at first. But when the
second half of game one started, the entire Clippers team looked ready to go. Griffin took
over the game and there was little that the Grizzlies could do. This series will probably go
at least six games and has the potential to go seven. But the Clippers are tough at home,
and that will come out in this game.
Pick: Los Angeles Clippers

Oklahoma City Thunder @ Dallas Mavericks
A 5 dimes review of the Dallas Mavericks roster at the beginning of the seasons shows a
team that had to let a lot of bench talent go after its championship run last year. While it
would be a great story to see Dirk Nowitzki lead the Mavericks to a successful defense
of its NBA title in these playoffs, it seems extremely unlikely against an Oklahoma City
Thunder team so deep in talent. This could very well be the last game of the season for
the Dallas Mavericks.
Pick: Oklahoma City Thunder

San Antonio Spurs @ Utah Jazz
NBA fans always enjoy it when the San Antonio Spurs and the Utah Jazz get together
for a playoff series. But the Jazz just does not have the weapons it has had in the past to
combat the play of the Spurs. San Antonio is attacking Utah with Mano Ginobili, Tony

Parker and Tim Duncan, and the Jazz has no reply. As with the Mavericks, this could be
the last game of the season for Utah.
Pick: San Antonio Spurs
Cooopers Pickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08026586069869146860noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5317425307399977702.post-67000108516146062152011-12-29T16:00:00.000-08:002011-12-29T16:00:31.272-08:00Top 5 NBA Playoff Moments of All-time
<!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:LatentStyles DefLockedState="false" DefUnhideWhenUsed="true"
Even though 2 of the Big 3 of LeBron James and Dwyane Wade did not have
the best Game 3 the Bulls could not contain the 3rd member of Chris Bosh, who
scored 34 points on 13/18 shooting in the Miami win. Derrick Rose scored 20
points, but for the 2nd straight game he did not shoot the rock well (8/19 from the
floor) and for the game Chicago shot 41.6%. The Bulls are not a high scoring
team and they have to play much better D in Game 4, as in Game 3 the Heat
shot 50.7% from the floor and this season the Bulls are 2-9 when an opponent
shoots over 50%.

Interesting fact that the last team to win a Game 3 in the Eastern Conference
semifinals and go on to lose the series was the 2005 Miami Heat.

In Game 3 in Miami the Heat beat the Bulls 96-85 and Miami covered the spread
and the posted total went Over.

This season the Heat are 48-46-1 ATS and the Bulls are 56-38-2 ATS. The Heat
are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games against the Bulls.

Game 4 is in Miami and the Heat have yet to lose at home in this post-season (7-
0).

The Bulls did have a solid Game 3 on the boards out-rebounding the Heat by
9, but they have to shoot the rock better and attack the rim and not settle for
jumpers. Rose, Luol Deng (6/13 14 points), and Carlos Boozer (8/19 26 points)
all shot under 50% from the field and the Bulls only had 36 points in the paint.

Rose has to get it going, as he has struggled in the last couple of games with his
shot and Chicago has lost both games. He only had 5 assists in Game 3 and 0 in
the first half and if he is not hitting his shot he must dish out the rock more.

Joakim Noah is not a focal part of the Bulls offense, but he has to score off
offensive boards and put backs. He only had 1 point in Game 3 and only had 5
rebounds. He has to be more physical inside and get some easy buckets in the
paint as well as pull down more boards.

Betting Trends

Chicago is 11-3-1 ATS in their last 15 games against teams with a winning
percentage above 60% and they have an Under record of 7-3 in their last 10
games after an ATS loss.

Miami is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games, 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games
playing on 1 days rest, and they have an Over record of 5-0 in their last 5 home
games.Cooopers Pickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08026586069869146860noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5317425307399977702.post-16183254243143318022011-05-18T08:11:00.000-07:002011-05-18T08:11:22.795-07:00Oklahoma City Thunder vs Dallas Mavericks Game 2 PreviewOklahoma City Thunder vs. Dallas Mavericks – Game 2 Preview and Betting Picks

The Mavericks took Game 1 of this series and they did it with a masterpiece from superstar Dirk Nowitzki. The Big German was un-guardable going for 48 points on 12/15 shooting and he hit all 24 of his free throws. The Mavs were lights out in the game shooting 53.1% from the floor and their bench came up HUGE combining to score 53 points. Kevin Durant had a big game (40 points), but Russell Westbrook really struggled and for the Thunder to win Game 2 and win this series they will need their pair of All Stars to both play well.

Game 1 was won by the Mavs 121-112 with Dallas covering the spread and the total obviously went Over.

This season the Mavs are 54-36-3 ATS and the Thunder are 49-44-2 ATS. The Mavs have covered the spread in every home game this post-season.

Shaun Marion (11 points 5/10 shooting) was the only other starter that scored in double figures in Game 1.

The Thunder have to do a better job defending the smaller reserve guards of Jason Terry and Jose Juan Barea, who combined for 45 points off the bench on 16/28 shooting and they buried 6 of their 11 3-pointers. The Thunder were so concentrated on Nowitzki that they let these guys have too many open looks and get into the lane and score. That cannot happen again or the Thunder will be going home in a 0-2 hole.

Russell Westbrook did go for 20 points in Game 1 and he did a good job getting to the free throw line (14/18), but he was only 3/15 from the floor and he committed 4 turnovers. If he struggles with his shooting again he has to keep attacking the rim, but he also has to dish out the rock more. He only had 3 assists in Game 1.

Westbrook is key in Game 2, as in Game 1 every other Thunder starter and 6th man James Harden all shot at least 50% from the floor.

While history is on the side of the Mavs since the winner of Game 1 has gone on to win the series 78.6% of the time the Thunder lost Game 1 in their last series against Memphis and went on to win the series.

Betting Trends

Oklahoma City is 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 road games, 10-4 ATS in their last 14 after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game, and has an Over record of 4-1 in their last 5 games.

Dallas is 9-0 ATS in their last 9 home games, 19-6-1 ATS in their last 26 games overall, and they have an Over record of 4-1 in their last 5 home games.

The 3-peat for the Lakers does not look good since they lost Game 2 at home and are now in a 0-2 hole heading to the Big D. The Mavs did not play great in Game 2, but they went on a decisive 9-0 run in the 4th quarter and for the 2nd straight game the Lakers were ice cold from beyond the 3-point arc only hitting on 10% of their 3-pointers (2/20). They must shoot the rock better only shooting 41% from the floor in Game 2, as they had more rebounds than the Mavs and had fewer turnovers and still lost the game by 8 points.

The Mavs won Game 2 91-83 and for the 2nd straight game they covered the spread and the posted total went Under.

This season the Lakers are 42-47-1 ATS and the Mavs are 51-36-3 ATS. The road team is 12-4-1 in the last 17 games between these 2 teams.

The Lakers had not lost the first 2 games of a series since the 2008 finals, which is the last playoff series they lost.

For the 2nd straight game in the series Dirk Nowitzki had a solid game scoring 24 points on 9/16 shooting and he grabbed 7 rebounds. Shaun Marion and Tyson Chandler combined to score 20 points and they shot pretty well, but they were lucky the Lakers were cold shooting the rock since even though Jason Kidd and Jason Terry combined for 19 points they only shot 6/22 from the field.

Andrew Bynum (18 points 13 rebounds) and Kobe Bryant (23 points 9/20 shooting) played OK in Game 2, but they did not get much help. Pau Gasol only scored 13 points on 5/12 shooting and Lamar Odom really struggled with 6 points on 3/12 shooting. The Lakers bench disappeared in the game with only 12 points. Bryant is known as a clutch player, but he went scoreless in the 4th quarter until he hit a free throw with a little more than 3 minutes left in the final period.

The Lakers have to get back to using Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol more getting these guys more touches, especially in the paint.

Not only are the Lakers down 0-2, but also they will likely be without defensive stud Ron Artest for Game 3 after he was ejected from Game 2 with a flagrant foul laying a clothesline on Dallas G Jose Juan Barea.

It is interesting that the last team to win a series after losing their first 2 games at home is Dallas, who did it in 2005.

Game 3 is, pretty much, a must win game for the Lakers since no team has ever come back from a 0-3 hole to win a playoff series.

Betting Trends

L.A. is 10-4 ATS in their last 14 road games and they have an Under record of 7-2 in their last 9 road games.

Dallas is 6-0 ATS in their last 6 home games, 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 games, and has an Under record of 7-3-1 in their last 11 home games.Cooopers Pickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08026586069869146860noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5317425307399977702.post-85210545645860719242011-04-25T06:19:00.001-07:002011-04-25T06:19:44.458-07:00New Orleans Hornets vs. L.A.
With their Game 4 win the Hornets again took back home court advantage in this series and once again Chris Paul had a HUGE game. In Game 1 he led the Hornets to an upset win and he did the same in Game 4 going for a triple double (27 points, 15 assists, 13 rebounds). Kobe Bryant really struggled in the game going 5/18 from the floor and he was held scoreless in the first half. Another reason the Lakers lost Game 4 is that they did not use their size advantage in the paint and they were out-rebounded in the game (39-32).

In Game 4 New Orleans won 93-88 and they covered the spread with the total going Under.

It is interesting that the Hornets have won 2 games in this series since they were 0-4 against the Lakers in the regular season. This season the Lakers are 31-12 at home and the Hornets are 19-24 on the road.

This season the Lakers are 40-45-1 ATS and the Hornets are 42-42-2 ATS. The Hornets have covered the spread in 3 of the 4 games in this series.

In Game 4 the Hornets shot a legit 44.6% from the field and Paul did not do it all with the duo of Trevor Ariza and Carl Landry combining for 35 points. These guys may really have to step up in Game 5, as the Lakers will key on Paul and not let him have another monster game.

Kobe sprained his ankle in Game 4 and he will play in Game 5, but how will he play? That is not only a big question on offense, but on defense as well, as if he can shut down Paul the Lakers have a great chance to win.

Pau Gasol did have 16 points in Game 4, but he only had 4 rebounds. Ron Artest also had 16 points, but they all came in the first half.

Gasol, Andrew Bynum, and Lamar Odom, who really struggled in Game 4 going for 6 points on 1/7 shooting, have to get in the paint and use their size in the lane to score and win the battle of the boards. If they can do this and Kobe is his usual self the Lakers should easily win this game.

In the last few seasons in the playoffs the Lakers usually play better when they have a little adversity, which they have in this game since a loss will put them on the brink of elimination. Look for Zen Master Phil Jackson to come up with a great scheme on D like he did after the Lakers lost Game 1.

Betting Trends

The Hornets have covered the spread in 3 games in this series, but overall they are only 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games in the Western Conference quarterfinals and in 7 of their last road games the total has gone Under 5 times.

The Lakers have only covered the spread 1 time in their last 6 home games, 3 of their last 11 games overall, and in their last 7 games the total has gone Over 5 times.

The Lakers have only covered the spread 2 times in their last 11 games facing the Hornets.Cooopers Pickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08026586069869146860noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5317425307399977702.post-87268164849053456422011-04-12T11:07:00.000-07:002011-04-12T11:07:31.833-07:00Memphis Grizzlies vs Portland Trailblazers Picks and PreviewMemphis Grizzlies (46-34) vs. Portland Trailblazers (47-33)
Both the Grizzlies and Blazers will make the playoffs, but what is unsure is what seed they will be. Both would like to move up to avoid playing the defending champion Lakers or red-hot Spurs in the opening round of the playoffs. However, with the Lakers struggling they may fall to the 3rd seed, but with the Grizzlies in the 8th spot they want to avoid San Antonio, who have won 4 straight.

In their last games the Blazers beat the Lakers 93-86 on Friday night and the Grizzlies looked impressive in beating the New Orleans Hornets 111-89 on Saturday.

This season the Grizzlies have been one of the best betting teams in the NBA at 51-28-1 ATS and the Blazers have been decent at 42-35-3 ATS.

These teams have split the 2 games they have played this season.

This season the Blazers are 29-11 at home and the Grizzlies are 16-23 on the road. Both teams are hot, as Portland has won 2 in a row and is 7-3 in their last 10 games and Memphis has also won 2 straight and is 8-2 in their last 10 games.

Portland is playing solid defense, as in 4 of their last 5 games they have held opponents under 100 points. They have to win with their D, which ranks 6th in the league in opponents’ points allowed, as their offense only ranks 23rd in the league in scoring. Also, in the 5-game span the only game they lost is the one they allowed their opponent to crack the 100-point barrier.

Blazers F LaMarcus Aldridge (21.8 ppg 8.7 rpg) is key in this game, as he not only has to score, but hit the boards as well. This is especially the case if Portland’s leading rebounder Marcus Camby (10.3 rpg) can’t go, as he is day to day with a neck injury and has not played in 2 games in a row.

The Grizzlies’ D has to key on Aldridge and Blazers swingman Gerald Wallace (15.7 ppg), who has been playing well and in his last 2 games has combined to score 48 points and hit 6 of 12 of his 3-pointers.

Memphis PF Zach Randolph (20.1 ppg 12.3 rpg) has stepped up his play since the Griz lost Rudy Gay and the Blazers cannot allow him to have a big game in the paint. Portland has to play all-around D, as the Grizzlies have good inside scoring with Randolph and C Marc Gasol (11.7 ppg) and outside scoring with Mike Conley (13.8 ppg) and O.J. Mayo (11.2 ppg).

Conley and the Grizzlies have to hold onto the rock, as the Blazers are forcing an average of 15.7 turnovers per game and if Memphis is sloppy with the ball in this game they will get killed.

These 2 teams met on Tuesday with the Thunder snapping the Nuggets 6-game winning streak and that game was important to Oklahoma City winning their first game in Denver since they moved from Seattle. As is stands right now this game would be a preview of a first round playoff series. Even though the Thunder beat the Nuggets on Tuesday they would rather not play them in the post-season and for that to happen they will have to catch the Mavericks, who they only trail by 1 game for the 3rd spot in the Western Conference.

In their last games on Wednesday night the Nuggets beat the Dallas Mavericks 104-96 and the Thunder wrapped up the Northwest Division with a 112-108 win over the L.A. Clippers.

This season the Thunder are 29-10 at home and the Nuggets are 17-22 on the road. The Thunder have won 2 of 3 games against the Nuggets this season.

Denver has played great since trading away Carmelo Anthony, as their defense has been much better while they are still the highest scoring in the league. In their loss to the Thunder on Tuesday night C Nene and F Wilson Chandler only scored a combined 12 points on 5/19 shooting. These guys have to score for the Nuggets to win this game.

Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook are the big guns for the Thunder and if these guys have big scoring games the Thunder will likely win. In the win over the Clippers on Wednesday night this duo combined to score 55 points.

Denver has a few injury concerns in this game with G Arron Afflalo, C Chris Anderson, and C Timofey Mozgov all questionable for this game.

Thunder C Kendrick Perkins was a great pickup for the Thunder, as before they traded for him Oklahoma City had a weak interior defense. He had 14 boards in the win over the Nuggets earlier this week and Denver cannot allow him to dominate glass again.

In the win over the Nuggets the thunder held Denver to only 42.9% shooting from the floor, but in the win over the Clippers they allowed L.A. to shoot 50.6% from the floor and if they allow Denver to shoot like that their 2-game winning streak may end.

This season Denver is 41-33-4 ATS and Oklahoma City is 40-37-1 ATS. Denver has only covered the spread one time in their last 6 visits to Oklahoma City.

Denver is 16-5 ATS in their last 21 road games and has an Under record of 5-0-1 in their last 6 road games and Oklahoma City is 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 home games and has an Under record of 11-4 in their last 15 games.
that the Wizards can and will not win on the road. Well sure enough JC was correct in his premonition and his against the spread NBA odds betting system continues to accumulate betting units this season:

The Washington Wizards even with the number one draft pick in Wall with Arenas by his side still can't take down the Nets. With Devin Harris scoring 29 pts with 9 assists, as the New Jersey Nets beat the dismal Washington Wizards with a final score of 97-89, snapping their 8 game losing streak.

Brook Lopez scored 18 points in the Nets 1st victory since beating the trail blazers right after the Thanksgiving holiday.

Nick Young hit an impressive 22 points & Gilbert Arenas scored 19 points but couldnt stop the curse of being helpless outside of the nations capital being an impressive 0-13 on the road in the 2010-2011 season.

Both teams stand at the bottom of the Eastern-conference with just six victories.

The wizards came back from being down 23 points to tie it up at 75 but never could put enough pep in the step to make it happen as the Nets led the entire way.

Some noticeable things about this game are that its surprisng that rookie point guard John Wall didnt come out from his hurt knee and that the last 4 games between the two teams were dominated by Washington last year.Cooopers Pickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08026586069869146860noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5317425307399977702.post-51607018511853064862010-12-09T12:54:00.000-08:002010-12-09T12:56:15.244-08:00Orlando Magic vs Portland Trailblazers, -2.5, 184.5
When the Magic take the court to face the Blazers tonight, they will be starting a treacherous 4 game road trip where they will have to face the Blazers, Clippers, Jazz and Nuggets. This will be a very important road trip for Orlando because it will test their ability to withstand two of the more powerhouse teams of the Western Conference. This will be Dwight Howard and the Magic’s first trip out west for the year and it should give a real idea of how well they can play when they are put outside of their element.

The Magic are supposed to get their starting point guard Jameer Nelson back tonight from a stomach ailment that has kept him out of action for the last 3 games. On the other side of the ball, the Blazers are also supposed to get their starting point guard back tonight, but for very different reasons: Andre Miller was suspended one game because of an altercation with Blake Griffin. Blazers back-up center Joel Pryzbilla is supposed to miss this game for personal reasons [grandmothers funeral], and that will definitely hurt the Blazers depth when they try to guard the best center in the league in Dwight Howard. The Magic are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 meetings versus the Blazers and are also 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games playing on two days rest, which I honestly think is very important when you are handicapping specific NBA teams.

My lean here is on Orlando because of it being their first game on this west coast road trip and the fact I think the Blazers will have a very tough time guarding Dwight Howard in this one.
Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5317425307399977702.post-58808166461866866652010-12-08T15:17:00.001-08:002010-12-08T15:17:39.330-08:00Indiana Pacers vs Milwaukee Bucks, -2, 189.5When the Milwaukee Bucks tip-off tonight versus the Indiana Pacers, the Pacers would have played 5 of their last 6 games on the road and tonight I think the traveling will catch up to them. The Bucks have been at home for almost a week by now and have already gone 1-1, beating the Orlando Magic and losing to the Miami Heat. The only injury to speak of in this match up is Drew Gooden, forward for the Milwaukee Bucks, who will be missing this game due to Plantar Fasciitis.

The favorite in this match up is 16-7-2 in their last 25 meetings and the Pacers are 1-6 in their last 7 meetings as well; the difference in this game will be the play of both point guard and center Brandon Jennings and Andrew Bogut for the Milwaukee Bucks. In both teams last 5 games overall, the Pacers are scoring 10 more points than the Bucks, but allowing 5 more points as well. In the end this is going to be a very close game going into the 4th quarter and it will turn into a defensive battle in the final minutes, where the Bucks will come away with a win behind their defense and play of versatile point guard Brandon Jennings.

I am leaning on the Bucks in this match up for small play at home versus the Pacers.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5317425307399977702.post-45879170238189730152010-12-07T13:42:00.001-08:002010-12-07T13:42:57.801-08:00Denver Nuggets vs Charlotte Bobcats, -1.5, 203
When the Nuggets take the floor Tuesday night, they will be playing mostly for George Karl and that is not just because he is their head coach; Karl will be going for his 1000th win. The Nuggets have covered 4 of their last 5 match ups with the Bobcats, while Charlotte is 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games after allowing 100 or more points in their previous game. The Nuggets are 13-6 so far this season, but where they have struggled has been covering spreads, where they are 6-11-2.

Another trend for these two teams has been the over in their past few games with it going 5-1 in their past 6 match ups. In Denver’s last 5 games, the Nuggets are averaging over 111 points per game and with that trend, I think the over is a good pick because the Nuggets are allowing over 100 points as well in their last 5. Charlotte Bobcats guard Stephen Jackson sat out of practice Monday due to a cramp in his left calf, he is expected to play in this game but I really think it will affect the way the Bobcats will run their offense and how the Nuggets will have to defend players like Gerald Wallace and D.J. Augustin.

In this game I have two separate leans, I think the Nuggets and the over are two very safe plays in this match up, especially with the home team going 5-1 straight up in their last 6 meetings.
Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5317425307399977702.post-66745239411014969882010-12-06T13:30:00.001-08:002010-12-06T13:30:47.654-08:00Los Angeles Lakers vs Washington Wizards, -13.5, 206.5
Let me just start out by saying the Wizards are 0-10 on the road so far this season and have only covered 1 of those road games. In the past 10 days the Wizards have played 6 games with 4 of them being on the road and I do not think the Wizards will be ready for this game versus the reigning two time NBA champions.

This spread is very high, but after the Lakers had just gone on a 4 game losing streak and snapping that streak on Friday versus the Kings, the Lakers have rested all weekend and will be ready to flex their muscles versus the Wizards on Tuesday

The Wizards have been outrebounded in their last 4 games by a combined 42 rebounds and tonight with Pau Gasol on the other side of the ball I expect the Lakers to control the glass and get out to a quick start. In the Lakers last 10 games overall, 6 of them have been on the road, they will be happy to finally be home for back to back home games and will be back to their comfortable ways

John Wall is currently on his first western conference road trip of his NBA career after losing by 17 in Phoenix on Sunday Night; I am leaning on the Lakers in this one.
Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5317425307399977702.post-61618692769134166882010-11-30T13:56:00.000-08:002010-11-30T13:58:04.651-08:00Detroit Pistons at Orlando Magic, -11, 192.5
The Magic have won 3 games in a row and are starting to look like the beasts of the East we all thought they could be, but on the other side of the ball, the Detroit Pistons have pretty much started the season the way most analysts predicted them to start with a 6-11 record and a 2-7 record on the road. The problem with the Magic so far this season have been covering the hefty spreads Vegas has set out for them night in and night out; especially against the lower half of the Eastern Conference at home. Tonight is absolutely no different, they are 11 point favorites at home, playing a Pistons team who has lost 3 straight road games and will struggle to defend the best Center in the league in Dwight Howard.

Statistically over the past few years, the Pistons have done a pretty good job covering the spread while playing in Orlando, going 13-5 in their last 18 meetings versus the Magic. The issue for Orlando has been simply covering spreads versus the Eastern Conference, because they have gone 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games versus the East. My lean on this game has to go with the Orlando Magic minus the points because of the advantage in field goal percentage, points per game and rebounding they hold over an overachieving 6-win Pistons.

Injuries:

Orlando Magic-

Vince Carter: Probable, Knee- Sustained injury 11/22 vs. Spurs, has not played since

Daniel Orton: Out, Knee- Surgery, will not play anytime soon

Detroit Pistons-

Terrico White: Out, Foot- Injured during Preseason, will not play

Jonas Jerebko: Out, Achilles- Injured during Preseason, out 5-6 months

Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5317425307399977702.post-49612854259260021002010-11-23T20:17:00.000-08:002010-11-23T20:19:43.644-08:00Current NBA injuriesIt's been an exciting start to a great NBA basketball season thus far and to much of the south beach chagrin Lebron James and the Miami heat are failing to live up to expectations. The Cleveland Cavalier fans not surprisingly seem to be ecstatic about this even though they stand as one of the worst teams in the league. For live NBA basketball updates such as these current injuries around the league than please check back as we will update the injury report on a weekly basis.

NBA Injuries
Atlanta Hawks
Player Pos. He's still introduced last, and he's still the center of attention in all of the team's publicity material, but make no mistake that's all just pageantry now.
Wade has been joined in Miami by two of the highest profile free agent acquisitions in NBA history, the reigning two-time NBA MVP LeBron James, who fled Cleveland after seven seasons for South Beach, along with former Toronto All-Star power forward Chris Bosh.
Meanwhile, Wade's former running rate on the Heat's 2006 NBA championship team, veteran center Shaquille O'Neal, is scheduled to make his debut for a Celtics team that came up just one game short of an NBA title last year.
"I think the NBA did an unbelievable job of picking a great first game," Wade said.
"All eyes will be on the game in Boston, but I think all eyes will really be on Miami," Celtics coach Doc Rivers added. "We are the other team that is playing and we are going to show up. But I'm sure everybody is there to see Miami."
Wade, a former NBA Finals MVP and scoring champion himself, now has a lot in common with Derek Jeter in New York. Like Jeter with baseball's Yankees, he will always be the most popular player for his franchise but Wade is no longer the straw that stirs the drink in south Florida. In the Bronx, that title belongs to Alex Rodriguez. In South Beach, it took all of one day for James to seize the mantle.
James and Bosh kicked off a new era for the Heat with a combined 38 points as Wade went down early with a hamstring injury in Miami's 105-89 exhibition opening win over the Detroit Pistons on Oct. 5.
Of course, preseason wins -- heck, even regular season wins -- aren't what it's going to be about in Miami this season. In fact the Heat may want to embrace Billy Joel's "Pressure" as their anthem this season. Anything short of an NBA championship will be viewed as a disappointment.
The blockbuster moves by Pat Riley in the offseason that netted Wade, who will play tonight despite struggling with the hamstring for much of the preseason, two teammates with 11 All-Star appearances between them also brought a ton of expectations.
A potential minefield of off-the-court distractions await.
"I hope these guys embrace it," former NBA star Chris Webber said of the scrutiny the Heat's three stars will surely face. "Don't apologize for getting together; don't tell us why it happened. Just beat everybody and say 'I told you so.'"
Things are much more tempered in Beantown, where the Celtics are coming off another great season in which they were a couple plays away from winning a second championship in three years.
Led by their own big three of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen along with emerging point guard Rajon Rondo, Boston fell in Game 7 of the NBA Finals to the Los Angeles Lakers, 83-79, wasting a 13-point third-quarter lead in the process, and losing the seventh game of the finals for the first time in the franchise's storied history.
Health is a main issue for the aging core of the C's that now includes Shaq. and Jermaine O'Neal.
Boston center Kendrick Perkins went down with a knee injury in Game 6 against the Lakers in The Finals and his absence was felt inside in the final game. Perkins underwent successful surgery in July to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament and is scheduled to miss half of the upcoming season, forcing Boston to ink both O'Neals.
The Celtics will also be without guard Delonte West, who is serving a 10-game suspension for an off-the-court indiscretion. Meanwhile, rookie guard Avery Bradley is out after undergoing left ankle surgery.
For Miami, swingman Mike Miller will be sidelined until at least January after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ligament and fracture in his right thumb. Miller, who signed a free agent contract with Miami this offseason that was worth $25 million over five years, sustained the injury when he got his hand caught in a teammate's jersey in practice last week. To replace him on the roster the Heat signed veteran guard Jerry Stackhouse.
Boston swept the three-game season series with the Heat last year and has won five straight overall and 11 of its last 12 against Miami. The Celtics also ousted Miami in the first round of the playoff last season but this is obviously a far different Heat team.
"As far as the East, we're the champs," Rondo said. "But that's in the past. This is a new season. We're not going to go down without a fight."Cooopers Pickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08026586069869146860noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5317425307399977702.post-30793830982507674232010-10-06T20:25:00.001-07:002010-10-06T20:25:57.872-07:00Miami Thrice unveiledDwyane Wade is still the captain in Miami. He's still introduced last, and he's still the center of attention in all of the team's publicity material, but that's all just pageantry. Wade now has a lot in common with Derek Jeter in New York. Like Jeter with the Yankees, he will always be the most popular player for his franchise but Wade is no longer the straw that stirs the drink in south Florida.

In the Bronx, that title belongs to Alex Rodriguez. In South Beach, it took all of one day for LeBron James to seize the mantle.

James and Chris Bosh kicked off a new era for the Heat with a combined 38 points as Wade went down early with a hamstring injury in Miami's 105-89 exhibition opening win over the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday.

James scored 18 points on 9-of-18 shooting and played nearly 27 minutes in his Miami debut. The reigning two-time MVP also ignited the crowd with a no-look pass and a brilliant spin move resulting in a thunderous slam.

"I was just anxious to get back on the court," James said after his first outing on the hardwood since sending shockwaves through the NBA this summer with his much-publicized and often-criticized "Decision" to leave his hometown Cavaliers.

"It's something I waited for all summer. The reception from the fans was awesome."

Bosh, who also joined the Heat to form the aptly titled "Miami Thrice" led the way with 20 points and had six rebounds. Wade played just the first 3:17 of the game before exiting with a strained right hamstring.

Of course, preseason wins -- heck, even regular season wins -- aren't what it's going to about in Miami this season. Anything short of an NBA championship will be viewed as a disappointment.

The blockbuster moves by Pat Riley in the offseason that netted Wade two teammates with 11 All-Star appearances between them also brought a ton of pressure.

"Can these guys stay focused amidst the media circus effect and keep their eyes focused on winning the championship?," former Heat star Steve Smith asked before the game. "If they can do that, that is one key to success for their season."

A potential minefield of off-the-court distractions await. Already, Wade found himself in a little hot water back in July with this little faux pas:

"We're going to be wearing a bull's-eye," Wade said before his annual charity basketball game in July. "But that's what you play for. We enjoy the bull's- eye. Plus, there's going to be times when we lose two, three games in a row and it seems like the world has crashed down. You all are going to make it seem like the World Trade is coming down again, but it's not going to be nothing but a couple of basketball games."

In a society that grows touchier by the day, that kind of insensitivity during an off-the-cuff remark will spawn a million headlines that could lead to the losing streaks Wade so inartfully described.

"I hope these guys embrace it," former NBA star Chris Webber said of the scrutiny the Heat's three stars will face. "Don't apologize for getting together; don't tell us why it happened. Just beat everybody and say 'I told you so.'"

Already the posturing about James shrinking away from the big stage and deferring to Wade has evaporated. A well-liked "King" or not is still the best player in the world, and he won't be the one deferring.

"I'm never in 'defer' mentality," James said after the game last night.

Not everyone agrees that should be the course Heat coach Erik Spoelstra should take.

"I think in game situations, the flow of the game will dictate who will take the last shot," NBA Network analyst and Hall of Famer Kevin McHale said. "I like D-Wade for it. When in doubt, give it to D-Wade. I like him at the end of games."

In the end, more often than not talent tells the story in the NBA. That bodes well for the Heat and it's hard to imagine the team struggling much during the regular season, but chemistry should be the deciding factor come playoff time.

"It is going to be fun for the fans in Miami," Webber said. "These guys are so talented and unselfish that I think they are going to play basketball the right way. I think it is going to be a joy to watch no matter what happens at the end of the year."Cooopers Pickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08026586069869146860noreply@blogger.com
